Goa Hotels Are a Blast

Thursday, January 26th, 2012

I was block booked with a party of four of my book club friends to go to one of the fantastic Goa hotels recently. I was a bit apprehensive at first but as soon as we arrived and received a wonderful welcome I relaxed and got into the holiday. One of my friends had arranged many lovely outings for us to go on. We went to see some of the fantastic historical sights on Goa, went to the markets, took a sunset cruise, went shopping for curios and did many other things of interest. In between all the outings, we also got a chance to have a soothing massage, sauna, steam bath and relax at the hotel pool. We were usually quite tired by the time the evening came around but that did not stop us going to the hotel restaurant for some fantastic dinners made from the fresh local markets. We have already booked for next year.

Where on the Globe is the Dominican Republic

Saturday, January 21st, 2012

I’m sure you’ve seen all those articles about Americans being interviewed about geography and failing miserably. Well, this problem really hit home the other day when I began talking about our vacations to the Dominican Republic and the lady I was talking with (I had just met her) seemed to think the Dominican Republic was in Europe! Here’s a site all about the Dominican Republic. I thought I would share with everyone where on the globe this country is. So, spin your globe around to the Caribbean Region which is basically south and southeast of Florida. The Caribbean also used to be called the West Indies so if you have an older globe or an older atlas you may see this term used. Find Cuba first because it’s the biggest island in the Caribbean and then look to the southeast and you’ll find the Dominican Republic located just to the east of Haiti and just to the west of Puerto Rico.
